Lexington Art League Internship

At the Lexington Art League, a gallery, I have two titles. My main priority is the education and outreach specialist, however, when I am not preparing for lessons, planning lessons, or in the classroom, I am a generalist. Below I have listed the descriptions of both of my jobs.

Art Education and Outreach Specialist: I work at Common Good once a week for an hour and half from September 12, 2018- December 12, 2018. An intern in this position will gain a variety of direct experience in facilitating visual arts education and engagement experiences for LAL's

education and community outreach programming.

Generalist: An intern in this position will gain a broad view of how a non-profit works, and will

conduct activities across all departments including exhibitions, community outreach, events,

membership, marketing, and administration.

I work with children primarily from William Wells Brown and Arlington Elementary whose art programs have been cut or are underfunded. This semester there is an overarching theme of gratitude and we are trying to expose the students to several different art forms. I shared with you the project lesson plans that we will be doing throughout the semester and the reason there are only six is because there are two alternating groups (so they have art lessons every other week).
